Rent a Local Friend is a global platform that connects people who love to travel with those who are passionate about where they live and have a great story to tell. More than just an outing, we support the sharing of local tips, information that will be revealed in no travel book or guide and last but certainly not least the essence of each local culture and spirit.
All of this is done in a spontaneous, genuine, collaborative, and interest based way allowing people to connect with those with whom they share similarities or own characteristics that will allow an unique and authentic immersion in the visiting destination.
Local Friends are journalists, photographers, chefs, designers…from all over the world, who like to host foreign visitors and show them their favorite local spots in the city. For people who want to explore different cities as a traveler, not as a tourist, this is a fun alternative way of exploring a new place.
Every place hides experiences that are begging to be lived. Our mission is to dig out these experiences, like miners for hidden gems, and make them accessible to our community, working as a catalyst for happy moments. We will continue to improve the way we connect travelling souls with their passions far and wide.
The world is better connected. Connecting with other human beings in a meaningful way is what gives us a sense of purpose. And few things touch our humane side as much as travelling and experiencing other cultures.
The old way, as we know it, involves crowded attractions, expensive tourist traps, ready-made packages and other soulless activities. The new traveller has no interest in any of that. In the new world of travel, the tourist no longer has to feel like an outsider. Luxury is on the low and novelty is on the rise. We envision a world where anyone can travel anywhere and live the experience of their dreams, tailor made for them, affordably and stress free.
“The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart.”
We will never discriminate against colour, gender, sexual preference, religion or disabilities and will not tolerate discrimination of any type within our community.
Our local friends need to be as passionate as we are about creating and sharing meaningful experiences. This desire to share, awe and inspire is the main trait that we look for when interviewing our local friends. So you can be sure that your friends will not keep a place’s best secrets to themselves. You will uncover those hidden gems together!
Traveling is transcendental. A good experience leaves its mark deep within our souls and has the power to transform us into better human beings. In the same way, a bad experience can be traumatizing. It’s a powerful thing and should be treated as such. We make sure all our friends understand the responsibility they have in hand, and the impact they can have on people’s lives. Our biggest rewards are the feedback our community gives and the stories they share.
“Travelling is the only thing that you buy that makes you richer.”
